I decided it would be fun to make a page for all the clever packages Cody receives. When Cody get's home he's going to print this out as a journal of sorts so this way he can remember every package. It will also help me when any of my other children serve. :) Feel free to borrow any ideas you like and if you have a clever one of your own please drop me a memo here and share.
Clever packages sent by us...
FISHER OF MEN: The first thing we shipped to Cody was a huge carton of flavor blasted goldfish crackers. They are his favorite. We attached the scripture reference about the time Christ said to Simon and Peter "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men."
CANDY CARE PACKAGE: boxes of smarties, gum, sourpatch kids, goobers, junior mints, whoppers and m&m's. We attached the following note "You are such a "smartie" for "chewsing" to go on a mission! If things ever start going "sour" don't be a "goober" and get on your knees. Pray and do what you were "mint" to do. We know you'll have a "whopping" good time and be a "m"arvelous "m"issionary!
HOMEMADE OREO COOKIES: Cody's favorite is homemade oreos so we made him enough for his whole district at the MTC and wrote OREOS (Only Righteous Elders Obtain Sweets)
YOU’RE A GREENIE!!!!!! HIS GREENIE PACKAGE (FIRST ONE IN THE FIELD)
Every thing in the box was green and in green packaging. We even wrapped green wrapping paper around the shoebox. Everything was an edible item such as candy.
Bigs Sunflower seeds: Dream “BIG
Roller tractor: Get “ROLLIN’”
Tractor dozer: Don’t “DOZE”off
Toilet: Don’t “FLUSH” out all your electrolytes in the heat
Quick blast spray bottle: We hope you have a “BLAST”
Sour Rip Roll: Don’t “RIP”your pants!
Junior mints: You’re "MINT" to be the “JUNIOR” companion
Grab a pop: “GRAB A POP” and teach him the Gospel.
Sweet soaker: Don’t get too “SOAKED” with sweat from all that humidity
Pop rocks: Hope your first area “ROCKS!”
Tic Tacs: Don’t be “TACKY”
Gummi frogs: “HOP” to it
Sweet writer: We pray you’ll have some “SWEET” AND “WRITE ON” baptisms.
Big league chew: You’re in the “BIG LEAGUE” now. And always “CHEWS”the right
Candy Rock, paper, scissors: To keep you and your companion busy (as if you won’t be busy enough)
Lifesaver mints: Remember, as a missionary you are "MINT' to “SAVE” souls.

AUGUST PACKAGE: Cody's companion was complaining that the greenies get all the mail love so this month I sent the package to Cody AND his companion. I wrote different funny things to each of them on the identical items. Who knew you could have so much fun at Dollar Tree. Because August doesn't have a holiday I just went with funny and/or useful things! Okay I need to put an explanation here....I'M A DWEEB! It's Elder Gordon NOT Elder Carbon. Can you tell I had no sleep that day and should have checked Cody's letter first?
SEPTEMBER SURVIVAL KIT
We know you’re on a bike now
And it’s hilly and it’s hot.
You think you would be used to it
But your body say’s you’re not!
Sometimes there is some puking
And sometimes there are some tears
Sometimes that single, mammoth hill
Seems like it takes you years!
So here’s a September Survival Kit
We hope it gets you by
And helps to survive those ruthless miles
And makes you smile not cry!
Dear Elders: Use these items to store
in your backpacks for when you have miles to go! We love you.
Keep on keepin on y’all!
xoxo

Happy Halloween: complete with grossness and a whoopie cushion :)
Happy 100th Day!
Every year at Halloween we make candy haunted houses. We all missed Cody's cleaver creations so I decided to make the St. Louis, Missouri temple since he is currently serving in Missouri. I hope it makes it there in one piece!
Novembers Care Package
Twelve Days of Christmas
New Years Package
As you celebrate the upcoming year
We hope that you will find
The joy of service is in your heart
And peace is in your mind
Put on these hats and think about
The crown of thorns he had to wear
The confetti represents the crowd of people
Who went and gathered there
As you blow into the silly horns
Think of the trumpets the angels played
As they heralded in the Saviors birth
That first Christmas day
The silly string you throw around
Is the service you should share
With the people in your mission
For whom you’ve come to care
As you play with the noise makers
And clap those hands the whole night through
Remember all the Saviors hands did for others
And did for you
So wear the glasses, open your fortunes
And look forward to the next year
Full of serving His children and Keeping God near!
